Pertaining to People

Pertaining to People is a podcast about all things anthropology and archaeology, hosted by Gill Taylor, Lulu Petrosyan and Kelsey Pennanen, for the “regular” people.

It discusses overviews, concepts, and interesting ideas relating to the diverse questions and research about people and culture. Three pals studying the topic examine new perspectives and explore diverse topics.  This podcast is for anyone with an interest in archaeology, anthropology, cultures, or anything pertaining to people!

The hosts of this podcast are situated on the traditional territories of the people of Treaty 7, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary (Mohkinstsis) is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. We put this here as more than just a formality but as part of our active process of accountability and truth and reconciliation. Land acknowledgements are an honest and historically accurate way to think about who has lived and lives on this land and a necessary first step towards honouring the original occupants of this place. If you are not indigenous to your country, we recommend taking some time to find out about where you are living and who might have lived there before you, and taking the time to build a relationship with the people who originally occupied the land you live on. This map is a pretty good first step for North America, and there are more resources here.
